June 2018
Deschutes River -
Well June is in the books. The Salmonfly  hatch came and went and while it had it's moments, it wasn't what it used to be.

However, currently the river is fishing well. There are a lot of fish on redds right now, so practice appropriate discretion when targeting fish. Wherever possible leave spawning fish alone !

Don't be discouraged though. We've been catching plenty of nice fish. Focus on the back eddies and deep troughs in faster water.
Smaller is better with flies like Frenchies, Psycho Prince ,Skinny Nelson and other small mayfly imitations doing very well. Small dark soft hackle Caddis are also doing very well, particularly in the evening.
July is filling in quickly so give FFP a call or contact me directly. I will get you into a great fish.

Crooked River-
The Crooked is awesome right now. The river clarity is phenomenal with little of the "crud" that we all know and love floating down from the dam. Fishing with small nymphs and soft hackles is great. Frenchies, Two Bit Hookers, Psycho Prince, Skinny Nelson, Ju Ju Baetis, all are working great. Focus on the deep holes and shoots around the larger rocks and the deeper riffle sets and you'll do well. There are caddis coming off, sometimes prolifically, so have some small (size 18)
Elk Hair Caddis, or x Caddis or similar and you'll undoubtedly get some fish to come up.
